Reference Customer and AI-Assisted Product Development

One of our i4ware Timesheet for Jira for Healthcare SaaS product reference customers is a health technology company operating in the Middle East.

Our product development strategy is intentionally technology-driven rather than customer-driven. Customers do not define the product roadmap nor request individual features. Instead, Matti Kiviharju acts as the lead software architect and independently oversees the long-term software architecture, user experience (UX), and technical direction. Current customers use the product and generally renew their monthly licenses without ongoing communication or suggesting new features.

Software development is enhanced by utilizing modern AI-assisted development tools. Microsoft Visual Studio Code Copilot and Google Antigravity AI are used to support software development, architectural design, prototyping, and programming tasks. Atlassian Rovo AI assists in customer service, drafting documentation, user guides, and development backlogs. Internally, this product development model is playfully referred to as “Guessing Center Development”, as decisions are based on software architecture, market research, and long-term product vision rather than continuous customer-specific feature development.

Understanding Different Healthcare Systems

Developing software for international healthcare organizations requires an understanding that healthcare systems vary significantly between different countries and regions.

In Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, private health insurance companies play a key role in financing healthcare. In many cases, insurance companies reimburse or pay directly for doctor visits, hospital stays, and other healthcare services. For this reason, digital healthcare solutions are often integrated into the systems of insurance companies, billing processes, and claims processing.

In Finland, the operating model is different. Healthcare is primarily funded by tax revenues, and the welfare areas are responsible for organizing public healthcare services. Additionally, the Finnish Pension Agency (Kela) manages statutory social security benefits, such as reimbursements for private healthcare and illness-related benefits in accordance with Finnish legislation.

The Finnish welfare state also differs from many other countries in that, in addition to healthcare, tax revenues fund the public education system, social security, and numerous other public services. This broad societal operating model also affects how Finnish software companies design digital services, taking into account security, accessibility, regulatory requirements, and long-term sustainability.

The differences in healthcare funding models and public administration highlight the importance of flexible software architectures. International software must be able to adapt to various business models, regulatory environments, and customer operational processes around the world.

Financial Planning

Financial planning is supported by the built-in Copilot AI of Microsoft 365 Excel, which helps create budgets, cash flow forecasts, and various business scenarios based on prompts. The planning takes into account, among other things, Finland’s advance taxes, value-added tax (VAT), YEL insurance contributions, and the complex social security regulations managed by Kela.

Careful financial planning is an important part of responsible software business and ensuring the continuity of long-term product development.

Unfortunately, some people have mistakenly claimed that he (Matti Kiviharju) is misled or taken advantage of because his business extensively utilizes legal expert assistance. In reality, contracts are intentionally drafted and reviewed by experienced attorneys to minimize business risks. Professional legal services typically cost 200–300 euros per hour plus 25.5% value-added tax, which is why individual assignments usually bill around 1,500–6,000 euros. Due to potential financial and legal consequences, there is practically very little room for errors in contracts. For this reason, a professional legal review is an essential investment and not a cost to be avoided.
